Instead of web2 authentication, Polkasafe allows you to sign in using your wallet. When signing in with your wallet, Polkasafe gives a message for you to sign with your wallet. By signing this message, Polkasafe is able to verify that you are the true owner of the wallet. {% hint style="info" %} Please note - Signing this message does not enable any assets to be transferred or otherwise affected. You can signin using any wallet that supports the network you are trying to signin for. See all supported wallets [here](/overview/supported-wallets). # Create a new Multisig Start fresh! Once you sign-in, Polkasafe allows you to link your existing multisig wallets or create a new wallet in few easy steps. Choose the Create Multisig option to start your secure asset management journey.
1. Select from the list of signatories or add a new wallet address from the input box on top. * You can choose to either add the address manually or upload a json file with signatories.
2. Then enter the threshold for your multisig wallet. Learn more about threshold [here](/faqs/threshold). 3. Give a contextual and easy name to your multisig wallet and press Create Multisig button. 4. Done! A transaction will be created for your signature. This transaction is to send an existential deposit to your new multisig wallet. {% hint style="info" %} If you skip this step, the wallet will still be created but it would not exist on-chain, and can lead to challenges with asset and wallet management. {% endhint %} Once you create a new multisig wallet, we recommend you to add a pure proxy to your wallet.
Learn what [pure proxies](/faqs/pure-proxy) are important and how you can setup them up here. # Use existing multisig wallet(PENDING) Polkasafe automatically fetches all multisig wallets To link your existing multisig wallet, choose the 2nd option here -
1. Choose a network on which you manage your existing multisig-
2. Then enter a name for your multisig wallet and enter the address of the multisig wallet you'd like to link.
3. Polkasafe with fetch the signatories for that multisig wallet and display them to you. You can add custom names to the address and these addresses will be added to your address book. Click Continue.
4. Review everything once and click 'Link Multisig' button.
# Creating a pure proxy Proxies enable signatory management Proxies are essential part of your multisig experience on substrate since they allow enhanced functionalities for your multisig wallets. 1. You can click on create proxy button from multiple places in the product. (It is well placed, we are sure you won't miss) Clicking on Create proxy will open up a product popup box -
You will notice that when creating a proxy, a small amount is included in the txn apart from txn gas. {% hint style="info" %} Well, that's the existential deposit for your proxy account. {% endhint %} Once you approve the transaction, a proxy wallet is created. BUT, the multisig wallet is not linked to the proxy wallet yet as it awaits approval from other signatories.
The other signatories can see the transaction in their transaction queue tab once they login to Polkasafe. Once the threshold is reached, the proxy is succesfully linked to your multisig wallet. # Dashboard Simplify on-chain treasury management. One app for payments, reporting, and asset management. We have made an intuitive UI to help you manage your accounts with ease. Want to know more about the different sections of the app? Continue reading. # Assets The assets tab displays the list of all tokens in your multisig wallet and also shows you the current USD value of your assets.
Users can use the send button next to their asset to directly create a transaction. If you have proxy enabled on your account, you can switch the asset view to see assets on both your multisig account and proxy wallet.
# Address Book All your signatories in one place Polkasafe's address book allows you to easily manage your signatories. Add and remove addresses with ease in your account. Users can add and edit the name of wallets in their address book enabling better account management and easy asset transfers. The other signatories can see the transaction in their transaction queue tab once they login to Polkasafe.
You can import and export wallet addresses to and from your address book. To **export** addresses from your account, press the export button on the UI.
Click export and a JSON file with all addresses and their corresponding names will be downloaded to your system. To **import** addresses into your address book, click on the import button and upload a JSON file with address and names in the following format - ``` { name: string; address: string; } ``` # Transactions The heart of Payout service Transactions are one of the main parts of Polkasafe's payout service. We allow you to easily create and send transactions from the dashboard or your assets page. 1. Click on 'Send' button next to any token in the assets page or click 'New transaction' from the dashboard.
2. Enter the recipient address or select from the saved address using the drop-down. 3. Select the token that you'd like to send and enter the amount. 4. Add a **Note** to the transaction. {% hint style="info" %} Transaction Notes help share additional contextual information with other signatories. {% endhint %} 5. Click on 'Make Transaction'. 6. Tada! On approving the transaction from your wallet, your transaction will be initiated succesfully. 7. The initiated transaction goes into the Queue, awaiting approval from other signatories. 8. Once other signatories approve the transaction, it is executed succesfully. # Transaction Queue There is no F.I.F.O. in blockchain! Transaction Queue can be accessed from the dashboard or the transactions page. Polkasafe retrieves and presents a comprehensive list of pending transactions in the queue that require signatures from other signatories. Transactions remain in queue until the multisig's threshold is met.

The transaction summary shows a brief description of the transaction, the date and time for creation of the transaction and (1/2) means that 1 signatory has signed the transaction and 2 is the threshold for approval. {% hint style="info" %} Only the creator of the transaction can edit the description or cancel a transaction {% endhint %} # Transaction History Transaction history on blockchains is like a digital time machine, forever preserving every step of the journey, making it the ultimate storyteller of financial adventures.

If you'd like to delete a Safe from your Polkasafe account, you can click the 'Remove Safe' button on this page. * Removing a safe does not impact your assets as Polkasafe is a non-cutodial wallet * You can link your multisig anytime again by simply connecting your wallet * Users can also use their multisig from polkadot.js(But why would you want that?) Polkasafe employs sophisticated Discord, Telegram, and SMS bots to deliver seamless notifications to your esteemed team during the entire transaction lifecycle. From the inception of a transaction to its execution or rejection, these meticulously designed bots ensure that you stay well-informed at every crucial stage. To facilitate expeditious transaction execution, the system provides timely reminder notifications at predefined intervals for transactions that require prompt attention. This meticulous approach fosters effective coordination among team members and enables swift execution. To tailor your notification settings according to your preferences, simply access the Notification page by * Selecting your Safe and clicking on the distinguished bell icon from the dashboard or * Go to the settings page and select the notifications tab # Set Reminder Frequency One reminder is never enough If a transaction isn't signed after a certain period of time, Polkasafe will send a reminder notification so you and your team doesn't forget to sign it. Reminder notifications are sent on a recurring basis until the transaction is executed. For example, if you set your reminder frequency to 12 hours then your team will receive a reminder notification every 12 hours until the transaction is executed. The reminder frequency can be changed on the notifications page by selecting a new value in the reminder frequency dropdown. # Notification Channels So many apps to remind you. Polkasafe bots are available on multiple platforms making sure that no matter where you and your team hangout, transaction reminders and updates are received everywhere. An admin is required to add the bot to your server. Once the bot is added, anyone can set it up. Please note that some teams with complicated Discord permissions may run into trouble setting up the Bot. If this happens please contact the Polkasafe team for support on . Instructions for setting up Discord, are available on the settings page when you click `Add The Safe Bot`.
# Telegram How to setup Telegram notifications Telegram notifications can be enabled by adding the PolkaSafe's telegram bot to your multisig/team's telegram group with all signatories. Instructions for setting up Telegram, are available on the settings page when you click `Add The Safe Bot`.
# Slack How to setup Slack notifications Slack notifications can be enabled by adding the PolkaSafe's telegram bot to your team's slack channel group with all signatories. Instructions for setting up Slack, are available on the settings page when you click `Add The Safe Bot`.
# Element How to setup Element notifications \ # Email How to setup Email notifications Email notifications are user and multisig specific. To enable email notifications add and verify your email in the settings page. Please note that when you click on verify button, a mail is sent to your inbox. If you havent received the mail, please check your updates/spam folder.
# Add a Signatory Got a new team member? More managers? Add them as your multisig's signatories in 2 easy steps. With the current implementation of substrate's multisig pallet, changing signatories is not possible unless you have a proxy linked to your multisig wallet. If you do have a proxy linked to your wallet(read [here](/setup-polkasafe/creating-a-pure-proxy) how you can do this), you can easily add more signatories to your Polkasafe account. 1. Go to the Setting's page under the section **'Manage Owners'**
2. Click on 'Add New Owner' button
3. As you can see above, adding a owner is a 2 step process. 1. Add New Multisig - When a signatory is added or removed, a new multisig wallet is created and your existing proxy wallet is linked to the new multisig wallet 2. Remove Old Multisig - Once the new multisig wallet is created and linked to the proxy account, removing old multisig essentially unlinks the existing(old) multisig from the proxy, hence taking away the control of funds managed via multisig away from the previous signers. 4. Add the Name and address of the new signatory 5. Modify the threshold if required 6. Click on 'Add' to initiate the signatory addition process You will be prompted with 2 transactions sequentially for your signature. As discussed above the first transaction is to create a new multisig with the updated signatories and configuration and the second transaction is to unlink the old multisig from the proxy account. Once these transactions are signed, the process to add a signatory is initiated and now the other signatories from the existing multisig need to approve these transaction to complete the process. {% hint style="info" %} The 2nd transaction to remove multisig is shown in the queue only after the first transaction to add a multisig and link to proxy is executed. {% endhint %}

Once this transaction is approved, the second transaction to unlink proxy from old multisig account needs to be signed by the signatories in the new multisig(updated configuration)

Once approved(threshold achieved), the process to add a signatory is completed. # Remove a Signatory A team member left? Responsibilities changed? Remove them from your multisig's signatories in 2 easy steps. To remove a signatory from your multisig, follow the process below - 1. Go to the Setting's page under the section **'Manage Owners'**
2. Click on '[🗑️](https://emojipedia.org/wastebasket/)' button next to the signatory that you want to remove.

Once approved(threshold achieved), the process to remove a signatory is completed. # Change Threshold Coming soon # Existential Deposit An existential threat to your wallet On most Substrate-based chains, an account is only active when it holds a minimum amount, currently set at **1 DOT** on Polkadot and **0.000333333 KSM** on Kusama. This minimum amount is called the Existential Deposit (ED). The ED exists so that accounts with very small balances or completely empty do not "bloat" the state of the blockchain. This limit allows the network to maintain high performance and reduce fees. **Things to note** - * Accounts that have never received a deposit are not discoverable on block explorers. * If you send funds [lower than the ED to an empty account](https://support.polkadot.network/en/support/solutions/articles/65000180045), the transaction will fail (nominators need to pay attention to this when collecting staking rewards, see below). * An account can be reactivated at any time. However, this will not bring back any previously burned funds. * To protect yourself from accidentally slipping below the ED amount and losing your funds, keep the option "transfer with account keep-alive checks" enabled when sending. * If you send all (or almost all) of your funds out of an account, which will result in the remaining balance going under the ED, the account will be reaped, and any remaining funds will be burned. This is the number of accounts that can issue transactions from the multisig if an adequate number of the other signatories agree. The threshold is the number of signatories that need to approve a transaction for it to happen. Usually, it is at least the majority of the signatories. The minimum threshold can be 2, and the maximum is the number of signatories. So, suppose a multisig has, for example, 5 signatories and a threshold of 3. In that case, we say it's a 3-of-5 multisig, which means that from the five signatories, three need to approve a transaction for it to happen (including the one who initiated the transaction). It's **important** to make clear that multisig accounts don't have a mnemonic phrase or private key of their own. They are controlled exclusively by the signatories. Also, the same set of signatories with the same threshold will always produce the same multisig. Finally, the signatories of a multisig can be any kind of account. Pure proxies, in particular, can be used for permissionless management. In the example below, there is a multisig with four different accounts inside. Two of the accounts, Alice and Bob, have a pure proxy attached to them. In the case that the multisig account wanted to add or remove Alice or Bob or even add a new account into the pure proxy, the pure proxy would take care of that change. {% hint style="info" %} If a multisig wants to modify itself **without** a pure proxy, a whole new multisig would need to be created. {% endhint %} Hence we strongly recommend everyone to setup proxy!
